Have you ever noticed that when a man meets another man for the first time they usually shake hands. When a man meets a woman for the first time they usually shake hands...well...what should happen when a woman meets another woman?
Since moving to DC I've been in this situation a lot lately with meeting new people and I'm not sure how to approach the issue. It's that awkward pause, wave hi, almost going to a handshake but then we both don't, or the awkward one person puts there hand up and it happens weirdly or it doesn't happen. Should we hug, just say hi? Is there an etiquette without being awkward?

Love Everything About It
1. We went over to our friends house for dinner a couple of weeks ago and my friend Lacey made the most amazing squash risotto. I made it last night, and all three of us had multiple helpings...it was SOOOO good. Squash is my favorite vegetable and being fall, I think I will be making this over and over again. It's a little time intensive but well worth it. Here's the link for the recipe: http://krissa.org/blog/?p=28

Store Meltdown
So yesterday Ernie and I went over to Target to get a couple of things and while we were there we witnessed a store meltdown. It was very weird...here's what happened.
We were there for no longer than 5 minutes and we heard this kid screaming at the top of her lungs, we looked at each other thinking...wow...shut your kid up, take them outside, or give them a good swift kick in the pants, but we went back to shopping not thinking much else of it. Next thing we know, the dad and daughter are one aisle over from us walking and this other lady comes up to the dad of the screaming daughter and says "Excuse me but my kids are really freaked out about your daughter screaming can you do something" at this point, Ernie and I and another lady are at a stand still listening to the conversation, mouths dropped in shock that someone would come up to this man and actually say something. The man said, I don't appreciate you butting into my life, it's not of your business, I'm doing the best I can. The lady walked away and there was nothing more said...AWKWARD.
Apparently from what another lady said, this guy had been letting his daughter scream for about an hour and she was all for someone going up and saying something. Both Ernie and I were thinking it but would never go up to a stranger and say something...so the question is would you approach someone or would you leave it alone? Be honest...what would you do?

Goofy Guy
Here are some of the things he is doing:
1. Words he says: sock, banana, apple, ball, balloon, up, down, thank you, truck, snack, done, what's this, what's that, fish, flower, up, down, more, night night.
2. He also does the sounds for owl, monkey, bird, bear, fire engine, cat, lizard (he sticks his tongue out).
3. He's now walking around, it's so much fun. He will be walking then fall on his own and go ohhhh...like he did it on accident, little trickster.
4. He's such a little jokester, he'll blow on his hand trying to make a fart sound, and anything that he can blow on he tries and cracks himself up. He stands up in his stroller with his arms up waving all about.
5. He is kind of a bully, and when we have playdates he doesn't share really well...we're really working on that.
6. He LOVES books, music, animals, trucks, cars, planes, helicopters and being outside.
7. He is very curious and observant and ALWAYS has to see what's going on (just like his mama) and is very social, loves smiling at people, waving and making faces at them. Where ever we go he's always charming people.
8. He is on the go ALL THE TIME, and never stops. He loves pushing, pulling things. He also likes to put things into other things so I constantly find things in odd places.
9. He is 24.5 lbs and is 29.5 inches long, which I'm not sure what the percentile is but he's a big dude, and can hold his own.
10. He mimicks me, makes sounds that I make, blows kisses, sings, and can be very loud.
He seriously is the funniest little guy and is always cracking me up. We have so much fun together it's a blast being a stay at home mom.

Re Commit
I love blogging, I love reading others blogs...it's a funny thing...blogs that is. We post pictures, thoughts, life events, accomplishments, talents, usually to make ourselves look better, happier, talented funny etc. I do it just the same as everyone else. It's one of the only self indulgences that I do to make me feel better about myself and my life. Not to say that what I post isn't true or what's really going on, but I try not to post anything to make me or my family look bad. Would you agree you do the same?
At any rate I've had some time to think about my life lately and honestly this past year with everything that has happened in our lives, both good and bad. My life has been interrupted in so many ways that I've lost a little focus. I've slacked in working out, slacked in spiritual goals, slacked in being as productive as I should be...I've just been a little lax in what I need to be doing, so without going into details I am re-committing today.
I post this because I think we all find hints or bouts of advice, or ideas from each other so if I can spark interest in someone elses life by writing this (not to say that I'm so inspirational), but I find strength in others so who knows. Anyway, this is what's happening in my life, it's not too exciting but I thought I'd share...so the word of the day is Re-Commit, whatever that means to you I hope that you can do it if you need to.

Mascara?
Ok, so I am just curious as to what mascara you wear. I, probably like most of you have tried several and yet to find one that I really, really like...so I'd like to know your thoughts. I need to buy some more so I'd like some input. Let me know...on the same note what eye liner do you use. I think I'm almost due for some more of that.
Sincerely,
Mel
